The Hispanic-Serving Institutions Education Grants Program (HSI) is a grant that is quite competitive but it could be the grant just for your institution! The purpose of the grant is to aid institutions that serve Hispanics with funds to implement programs for higher education specifically in the food and agricultural sciences. HSI is looking to help programs to draw exceptional students who can make a difference in raising the bar on finding innovative ways to raise the quality of our Nation’s food and agricultural system.
Who is eligible for HSI? This grant is for institutions that have a minimum of 25% of their enrollment as Hispanic students. This grant is only for public or non-profit institutions.
When is the application due? Your application must be submitted by March 15, 2011, if you are participating in regular projects and March 31, 2011, if you are participating in collaboration projects.
How do I apply? You can apply online or respond to the request for application (RFA) which announces current grants offered by the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA). You will want to be sure to contact your authorized representative (AR) to ensure that you either registered with grants.gov or have taken the steps necessary to be prepared to register. This is one of the first steps needed in order for you to be able to submit your application.
How much could the funding possibly be? $9.2 million, Individual Institution Awards can be up to $1.1 million.
